Last weekend we traveled to Washington, DC to attend a very special event, the marriage of my sister Vanessa to our dear friend Kevin. We were incredibly excited for this event and the chance to reunite with friends from across the country. Friday morning we drove into Kansas City and boarded our flight into DC.
Arrived in DC Friday morning, needed coffee.
Got coffee, but needed formal wear.
Acquired a rental tux only to realize it's pale straw scheme directly clashed with my milky complexion.
Calmed myself at the hotel bar with a draught of Yuengling, officially America's oldest brewery and officially delicious.
Between what's above and what follows, much happened. Unfortunately we left the camera in the hotel room, a most ineffective location in regards to documenting events. Regardless, a marriage took place, many photographs were taken (not by us!), two wonderful toasts to the bride and groom were given, a dance party went well into the night, bus rides back to the hotel were provided, and a hotel room of unadulterated fun occurred!
Congratulations Vanessa and Kevin! It was the picturesque wedding with immaculate weather and a dance party any young couple would welcome at their celebration.
The following morning, with a foggy head, we gathered in the hotel lobby and ventured into our nation's capital for some sights.
Jen shines her pearlies for underground public transportation.
Bliss beneath concrete.
Tourists.
Capital bikeshare, now powered by good intentions!
We exited the Metro and after a few wrong turns, we ended up in Chinatown.
Nicolette and Jen celebrate our discovery of the Far East.
Stumbling into Chinatown for lunch.
Ming's Restaurant, where one can eat Japanese food in Chinatown. Go figure...
Jen reconsiders her portion size as more than adequate.
This guy wouldn't let up our entire meal. He really was fighting to get out that tank! Must have been the General Tso's Seafood dish I ordered.
Outside the Hoover Building or FBI. No doors, but plenty of holes to shoot your ass.
Walked to the Mall and checked out a few wings of the Natural History Museum. Did you know humans are 60% genetically comparable to Banana Trees? Neither did I, but you better believe it!
Wolf-love.
Static-motion... hare-raising!
Stamos?!?! Or could this be an early example of mammalian puppeteering?
Red Skull!
Grey Skull!
Prehistoric Stormtrooper?!?!
We were both bummed the Sno-Cone Machine was broken.
This guy was intensely happy to greet us.
Monumental.
Beautiful end to a beautiful trip... until next time. We'll be back, Natural History Museum!
