Yeah I'm blogging at work and getting paid for it. What!
Thought I'd write a bit to contrast the last actual post being all photo (not a bad thing). We had a wonderful time in the few hours we spent at Clinton Lake Saturday. The giant borrow pit pile known as Sanders Mound and the fields surrounding it were recently scorched by a controlled burn, resulting in a delicious roasted prairie scent. As seen in the photos below, it gave the entire area a semi-surreal feeling. We've visited last Fall when the flora was over your head, but I enjoyed myself much more this time around. Crispy devastation littered with green hints of new life below the surface. Immensely satisfying to walk on.
Numerous trips are in our future. First, we intend to travel to Saint Louis this weekend to see our dear Larry, freshly back from the other side of the hemisphere. Visiting this city is always a blast and, honestly, we need no less than a week there to do it justice. Will have to forgo sleep in order to achieve victory!
Next, we travel North to Nebraska to celebrate the first birthday of Hauke, my youngest nephew. Really looking forward to this trip as well since I haven't had any uncle-time since late January and that is too long! Also plan to spend a night out with my sister Jocelyn, enjoy the company of my parents, and catch up with my other sister Laura and family. Would like to take my Dad's Triumph out for a ride and read/check out a box or two of comics from the library.
Finally, we will fly to Washington, D.C. to attend the wedding ceremony of my sister Vanessa to our dear friend, Kevin Scully. Hoping they officially pursue the creation of a new last name, combining both Lippincott and Scully, resulting in Skullcott! Mwhahahahaha!!! Crossing fingers to visit a national museum or two before departing Sunday.
With additional commitments and deadlines looming, we are both busy Wu-Tang Killah bees. Yet, like Lionel Richie on a greased golden pole, we can't slow down!
